I’m just too excited about this not to share in a Miss Fi’s Kingdom blog. If it isn’t already fairly obvious I LOVE FAIRIES! My collection of fairy books range from classic tales, tooth fairies, novels, board books with glitter, and the treasured 1st editions. I was always pretending to be a fairy always wanting my own pair of wing, petals for dress, and glitter and fairy dust sparkling from my long curly locks as I ran through my garden. I’ve only caught a glimpse of fairies out of the corner of my eye and even then I have let my skeptic mind say yeah right… It’s just your imagination and your love of fairies making you see things, until yesterday. All three of us were in the backyard making the rounds trying to wear Fiona out for her nap. I was also getting pictures of all the new things she can do now that she’s not having daytime seizures. Fiona is almost five and she is doing things that we have never seen or only seen once years ago. I had to document her climbing up the play equipment to go down the slide, picking vegetables out of our garden (and voluntarily releasing them back into our hands), and grip the bubble wand, dip it in the juice, and wave it around! Fiona is ready to move on from the bubbles after a few minutes but I needed to use up the bubble juice and I had wanted to try and photograph the bubbles. They are so big and so colorful… actually rainbow is my favorite color. So there I was camera in my right hand bubble wand in my left snapping off pictures of every bubble I could. And look at what I caught on film! Even as I was taking the picture I knew what I was capturing in my little playback screen. The above picture hasn’t been edited at all. I have other pictures that you can cock your head and say, “well maybe that could be…” This one is the clearest of the bunch. After I uploaded the pictures I opened it in Photoshop and had a look at the details of the fairy’s face, legs, and wings. Amazing is all I can say. I played around with the dark and light and cropped the picture. This is what I came up with.

I hope this brings a smile to those of you that hold a special place in your heart for fairies and maybe makes a believer or two. Do you believe in fairies? Tell me your stories!

This Halloween this eco fairy has raised some old T—shirts form the grave and turned them into Trick or Treat bags for your little ghouls and goblins. I trekked through the aisle of forgotten clothes and rescued tees from Halloweens past. These T—shirts once cloaked a ghost or vampire on their Hallow’s eve journey to wander the streets and bang on the doors of scared townsfolk. Now they have been turn into sacks for Tricks and Treats. Skulls, pumpkins, black cats and rock star bone men are ready to hoard your loot this Halloween. Come creep over to my Etsy store and snatch up a Halloween Tee-Bag before they disappear before your eyes in the fog and mist of Internet sales.

And while you are entranced by my Tee- Bags why not check out more of my Witchy Crafts. I’ve dug up some Halloween Paint Swatch Cards and Beaded Bracelets. Want to send someone a little note or write a spell and wish them well? These sets of 3 cards will give you the right amount of Halloween flare without a trip down the card aisle. My cards are one of a kind creations made on 100% recycled card stock and decorated with decorative paper scraps and flowers punched from paint swatches found in haunted home stores. Wishing you could get away with wearing a full blown Halloween Costume to work? Well show the office that even working girls can get into the spirit without a costume. My beaded bracelets hold enough Halloween magic to cast a spell of beauty. Just enough black and orange to say Happy Halloween without the fake vampire teeth, bad wigs, or devil horns.

Using reusable bags for shopping is one of the best ways to help the environment. Harmful chemicals and energy are used to produce both paper and plastic bags.
Recycling and reusing plastic and paper bags does a lot to help keep them out of the landfills and the environment but it doesn’t end the demand for these antiquated forms of transporting goods. Energy, water, and fuel are used to collect, recycle and transport the bags. Reusing plastic bags is a great idea, but realistically you would have to use them eleven times before you would absorb the environmental impact. Reusable bags like these recycled tee shirt bags are the most responsible ways to shop and carry items. Bags made from old tees aren’t a new idea, but it’s a great idea that should be embraced by us all. My personal twist is finding the unusual ones, like old Monty Python and Mad TV tee shirts. I’ve been scouring thrift stores and yard sales for unusual tees. I’ve even enlisted the help of friends and family, asking them to save their favorite pop culture shirts. I’m also exploring the sizes of the bags: Large shirts for groceries and laundry, medium shirts for shopping and school, children’s sized tees make great lunch sacks and gift bags. I’m also collecting old Halloween shirts to make trick-or-treat bags. I hope that you will find a Tee Bag that makes a statement about your personality and your commitment to the environment. And whether or not you buy one of my creations I hope that you will consider using reusable fabric bags and maybe even make some of your own. My Tee Bags and other eco-Fairy products are at my Etsy shop MissFiKingdom. I will be posting the Tee Bags throughout the week.

It is a spring time ritual to go the bottom of Sheep Canyon. There is a very special spring quietly bubbling through the forest. I decided that my fairy friends would like to come with me.

To show how happy I am that we are starting 2009, Miss Fi’s Kingdom is now shipping Internationally. This is a big step for me because I know that it will be a challenge to get my products around the world. I’ve noticed that I have a lot of interest in my etsy shop coming from international sellers and buyers. I myself am drawn to a lot of international artist on etsy as well. So in order to get more customers I’m offering shipping EVERYWHERE.

Now, I know that this news won’t affect many of my blog readers (I don’t know how many people around the world are actually reading… If there are any of you out there, THANKS) so I’ve changed the price of shipping on all of my products. A discount on shipping is given when you buy more than one item from my etsy shop. So come and check out my new shipping costs at Miss Fi’s Kingdom.

Thanks and have a HAPPY NEW YEAR

Once upon a time there was an extraordinary little baby named Fiona Grace. She lived in the sunny valley near a huge city. She was a sweet and kind soul. Fiona was loved by everyone especially her mama and daddy. In a time when all babies were expected to fit into charts, time frames, and labels, Fiona was allowed to be who ever she was and take all the time in the world. She decided to be daring, and be different than other little children in the land…
She blossomed into a smart, funky, artistic, tot, with a lot of spunk and style. Despite all her delays along the way she made-up for it with a determination to just be herself. Fiona loves to read books and to sing. She loves to be creative with her hands and use her imagination. Fiona loves to write letters to her cousin; Jack about her adventures both near and far. But more than anything Fiona Grace is a little girl who cares about the environment. She lives by The Code of the Three R’s: Recycle, Reuse, and Reduce…
Fiona has always had a special magic with in her heart. It goes beyond what we can see or explain. She has the gift that allows her to go to the fairy realm. Fiona Grace travels across the threads of spider webs on nights when the moon is full and shines through the trees like silver beams of light. Once on the other side she is transformed into Miss Fi. Miss Fi is a little fairy princess in charge of her very own kingdom. With in her kingdom she rules over land and fairy with kindness and laughter in her voice….

Hello etsy!

I finally start posting items for sale on Etsy…www.etsy.com
I was dragging my feet over posting because I was trying to figure out shipping cost and how everything works at etsy. Etsy is amazingly easy. Posting is fast and instant. Shipping and paypal has been working out great. I thought it was going to be a lot harder. Paypal makes it easy to make shipping labels from my computer. Everything has been going really well.

I’ve posted at least 20 items from my current collection. I’ve sold 4 item to date from etsy. Granted the orders were from my mom and my best friend (shout out to moms and Shalyn) but this is progress! I’ve had a lot of people looking at my stuff too! My ribbon cards and my bracelets seem to be catching some attention.

So now it’s time for everyone else to go to etsy and become a memeber. A Member? That’s right there’s a sign in required for buying or selling anything on etsy.

So what exactly is Etsy? It is the #1 place to buy and sell handmade items online.

I can’t wait for you all to check the whole website out. There are a lot of amazing artist and crafters out there. I’m happy to be part of this worldwide family. Becoming a member is a lot like joining ebay. In fact I say, “etsy is a lot like ebay except everything is handmade and there is not an auction site.” They work with paypal so paying online is really easy and secure.

Please check out my site by clicking on the “Shop the Kingdom” button or you can type in www.MissFiKingdom.etsy.com.
